NC Trip - Ski Beech

Ski Beech – is an area centered around Ski Beech Resort. The drive up the mountain has an awesome view for miles, but also is steep with a back and forth pattern, including hair pin turns. Both of our kids felt nauseous at separate times. I was relieved to be at the top and after a few times got use to mountain driving, well as a passenger because I didn’t drive at all. The town does not have convenient things that we are use to but nice Mom & Pop shops. Fred’s Mercantile offers a variety of things that you may need, and some you may just want, everything from milk, sleds, postcards, home made jams, Christmas ornaments and books about the area. That is also where we got our cracked corn. The Brick Oven Pizza was at the top of our steep climb and we ate there the first night. It was a friendly atmosphere, great people but I have to say it was pricey. We spent about $50 just for pizza and 2 kids spaghetti. The Chamber of Commerce offers free sledding on a little hill, they add snow when needed but you will have to bring your own sled. Ski Beech is not far from many places that offer other stops you should make with your time in the area. We also realized you do not have to stay on Beech Mt to enjoy the skiing.
